Carb Fasting

Editorial policy

carbfasting.com is an educational resource published by Freedomology. We define the carb fasting plan, explain the science, and grade the evidence. We say plainly when something is established and when it's only promising. Health pages are written by a named author and cited to guidelines and peer-reviewed research, and we only call a page medically reviewed when a licensed clinician has reviewed it. It is general education, not medical advice.

Who publishes this

carbfasting.com is published by Freedomology, a personal-development company that runs 40-day programs for health, finances, and relationships. Carb fasting is one of the pillars of its health program, H40. We say this up front because trust on a health topic depends on knowing who is talking and why.

Educational, not medical advice

Everything on this site is general education. It is not a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare professional who knows your history. Carbohydrate restriction and fasting can meaningfully affect blood sugar and interact with medication. If you are pregnant, manage diabetes, take medication that affects blood sugar, or have a history of disordered eating, talk to your clinician before starting.

How we source claims

We work from a clear hierarchy: official guidelines and government health bodies first; then peer-reviewed trials and meta-analyses, cited with visible DOIs and PMIDs you can check; then reputable clinical explainers. We do not cite sources we can’t verify, and we do not invent statistics. Where a claim is mechanism or physiology, we say so; where it rests on a single study, we name the study.

How we grade evidence

We grade honestly. Established physiology is labeled as such. Promising-but-early findings include the 2025 research that carbohydrate restriction can mimic some metabolic effects of fasting. We label those findings promising. We would rather undersell a claim than oversell it, and we never imply a result is guaranteed.

Medical review

No page on this site currently carries a medical-review line, and we do not use the phrase until it is true. When a licensed clinician reviews a page for accuracy and safety framing, the byline will name them, link to their credentials, and show the date of the review. Review will not make a page personal medical advice.

Authorship

Pages are written under a named author rather than anonymously, and the byline links to that author’s page. Greg Clement wrote The Fat Switch and the pages here.

Disclosure

Carb fasting is a Freedomology protocol, and Freedomology publishes this site. The only email we send is the book you asked for and the occasional carb fasting update. If that ever changes to include Freedomology programs, the form and this page will say so first. We follow FTC guidance on health claims. We do not publish testimonials; the only result on the site is the author’s own, labeled as one person’s result.

Questions people ask

Is carbfasting.com independent of any company?
No, and we don't claim to be. carbfasting.com is published by Freedomology, which runs the H40 program and a paid membership. We keep an editorial wall between our content and our offers: pages are written to be accurate and useful first, and any link to the free book or to Freedomology is clearly that.
Do you give medical advice?
No. Everything here is general education. Carbohydrate restriction and fasting can interact with medications and medical conditions, so anyone who is pregnant, manages diabetes, takes medication that affects blood sugar, or has a history of disordered eating should talk to their own clinician before changing how they eat.
How do you handle corrections?
If we get something wrong, we fix it and update the page's 'updated' date. Substantive corrections are noted on the page. If you spot an error, use the contact page and we'll look at it.
